Position Summary: The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for steering the vision, strategy, and oversight of the Adirondack Health Foundation. The position includes the design and implementation of comprehensive fundraising programs and tactics to achieve philanthropic goals, managing a portfolio of high-capacity donors and potential donors, and cultivating and securing significant and transformational gift commitments.

As an executive level fundraiser, the ED shall be a forward-thinking, innovative leader who advocates for Adirondack Health and reinforces the significant importance of philanthropy internally and externally. The ED reports to the President/CEO of Adirondack Health, and also has accountability to the Executive Committee of the Adirondack Health Foundation Board.

The ED will represent Adirondack Health in a professional manner throughout the community and be able to convey the mission of Adirondack Health in compelling ways to potential donors and key stakeholders. The ED shall be a self-starter and experienced in a broad spectrum of fundraising practices such as major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, annual fund, corporate development, and foundation relations. The ED shall have integrity and adhere to the highest ethical standards and have the ability to act with discretion and diplomacy.

Salary Range:

$100,000- $145,000 annually.

Educational Requirements/ Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution.
  • Minimum 6 years in fundraising for nonprofit organizations, with demonstrated results in leadership and success in securing major, planned, and transformational gifts.
  • Ability to establish and strengthen genuine and sustained relationships.
  • Successful history in managing and leading project based, capital, and comprehensive campaigns.
  • Proficient knowledge of fundraising best practices.
  • Experience managing volunteer boards as well as participating on and leading boards.
  • Experience with budgeting and fiscal management of foundation/department finances.
  • Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who possess or are working towards a master’s degree or professional fundraising designation: Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE), Fellow of the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP), or Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG).
